Concentration is a key skill that you need to nurture in your daily life. In our modern societies, information-processing demands on the individuals are continually increasing. We are constantly requested to attend to changing environmental conditions and stimuli. The Concentration training is specifically designed to help you maintain and improve your concentration abilities so you can be more alert and focused when you are doing your daily tasks, working or studying.
For example, if you are preparing for a test or working on a presentation you must orient your attention to the text and graphics in your book or on your computer. At the same time, you must ignore irrelevant and competing sources of attraction (someone speaking near your door or a telephone ringing on the desk near yours) and you must continue to focus on your task while ignoring distractions. These are the processes of selective attention, inhibition and sustained attention.
In order to master the materials for the test or to prepare just the right presentation, you must sustain attention for a long time while, at the same time, paying attention to detail. This is vigilance. But it's not the end of the story. Sometimes you will be interrupted and you will have to swiftly stop what you are doing and fully attend to the new situation. This is the shifting ability. Successful shifting requires successful inhibition of what you were doing. You know you will come back to your task so, you continue to attend to it privately and silently. To do so you divide your attention: you allocate some resources to what you were doing and others to what you are now doing. This is divided attention. There are additional attention processes that are also higher-order processes. Dual-tasking and multi-tasking (attending to and doing two or more tasks in the same time interval) are among the most complex ones.
The CogniFit Concentration brain training helps you develop the wide range of brain processes such as inhibition, shifting, selective attention, vigilance, dual-tasking and multi-tasking, that operate when high levels of concentration are required. We all want to be able to sit down and work an hour without losing focus or sustain a long presentation without disconnection.
